Empowering Youth for a Brighter Future


Are you a young person impacted by substance use or addiction? Discover a path to holistic wellness, navigate challenges, and find hope with URise, a unique program tailored for youth aged 15-18.

URise aims to empower youth by equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to embark on a journey of holistic wellness. Our program focuses on fostering resilience, awareness, and empowerment, enabling participants to overcome challenges and thrive in their personal lives.


Key Program Outcomes

  • Education & Awareness: Gain a deeper understanding of substance use and its effects on the brain and behaviour.

  • Holistic Wellbeing: Discover and develop your unique path to wellness, focusing on balance and emotional health.

  • Development of Coping & Life Skills: Learn and apply strategies to manage stress, regulate emotions, and set achievable goals.


Program Structure

Format:
URise is offered in two sessions per year, each lasting 11 weeks. Participants are encouraged to register with the intention of attending the entire session.

Salisbury Composite High, 20 Festival Way, Sherwood Park

Cost:
Participation in the URise program is completely free.

Due to small registration numbers for our fall session that starts September 23rd and the possibility of a strike, URise is cancelled until further notice. Watch for our Spring Session Feb/March 2026. If you have any questions or concerns, please email [email protected].

Session Details

All meetings are held on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Salisbury High School, Sherwood Park.

Session 1: Holistic Wellbeing (TBD February/March 2026)

  • Understand brain architecture and its impact on wellness.

  • Explore basic needs and their importance for a balanced life.

  • Learn emotional regulation and strategies for managing big emotions.

  • Discover the importance of safety and natural supports.

Session 2: Development of Skills (Mar. 3 - May 19, 2025)

  • Apply emotional regulation techniques in challenging situations.

  • Enhance empathy, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Set SMART goals and create safety plans for crisis management.

  • Celebrate achievements and reflect on personal growth.

Peer Support & Connection:

  • Build a supportive community and positive peer relationships.

  • Engage in meaningful discussions and share experiences.

  • Participate in group discussions and continue learning beyond the session.

Empowerment:

  • Empower yourself to take an active role in your wellness journey.

  • Explore leadership opportunities and support your peers.

  • Help facilitate lessons and activities to strengthen your skills.
