Family Recovery Support for Families Affected by Addiction
When someone you love is struggling with substance use, it can take over your life. You might be worrying constantly, trying to fix things, or wondering what you’re doing wrong.
Many families are going through this, even if no one is talking about it.
You are not alone. And this is not your fault.
What is Family Recovery?
Family recovery is about your well-being.
Many people come feeling like they need to have everything figured out or make things change for your loved one.
Over time, the focus begins to shift toward taking care of yourself.
It’s about learning how to:
- cope with what’s happening
- think more clearly
- take care of yourself
- move forward, no matter what your loved one chooses
If this sounds familiar…
You might be feeling:
- Responsible for what’s happening
- Exhausted and overwhelmed
- Unsure what helps or makes things worse
- Afraid to talk about it
This is more common than people realize.
How Family Recovery Helps
Over time, families begin to:
- Feel less overwhelmed
- Understand addiction and recovery more clearly
- Communicate differently
- Set healthier boundaries
- Reconnect with themselves and what matters
Change doesn’t happen all at once. It happens step by step.
This is what we mean when we say families have their own recovery journey.

How Our Family Recovery Program Works
We focus on one topic each month in family recovery.
And we offer two simple ways to take part.
One topic, two ways to support you.
1. Weekly Meetings
2. Online Learning Sessions
Not sure which is right for you?
Free and easy to access
- No registration required. (Please note that we do require registration for the Learning Series.)
- No referral needed. You can simply show up.
What to expect at a Family Recovery meeting
Many people feel nervous before their first meeting. That’s completely normal.
Here’s what it’s like:
- A welcoming, respectful, and confidential space
- Led by two trained facilitators
- A short, simple topic to help you understand and cope
- You’ll receive a handout so you don’t have to take notes
- A group conversation, including a sharing circle (you choose if you participate)
- No pressure to speak…ever
- No judgment, no criticism
We don’t tell people what to do.
We listen, and we help you find a way forward that feels right for you.
You don’t need to have anything figured out before you come.

What to expect in an online learning session
If you choose the online learning session, here’s what it’s like:
- A structured, guided session you can join from home (Zoom)
- Led by two trained facilitators
- A clear walk-through of the topic with practical tools
- Interactive and engaging, with opportunities to reflect
- A handout to follow along
You can listen quietly. There’s no pressure to speak.
To support a safe space for everyone:
- Cameras are encouraged for safety
- We ask that you join from a private space or use headphones

What We Talk About
Each month focuses on a different topic to help you better understand and cope with what you’re going through.
Topics include:
- Understanding addiction and how it affects families
- Family recovery and taking care of your well-being
- Shifting toward “change begins with me”
- What matters most to you (your values)
- Setting healthy boundaries
- Communicating in a way that reduces conflict
You don’t need to know anything about these topics before you come.
Who It’s For
This is for adults (18+) who are impacted by a loved one’s substance use or addiction.
That can include:
- Parents
- Partners
- Siblings
- Grandparents
- Friends
If someone in your life is struggling, and it’s affecting you, you’re welcome here.
