Sherwood Park sessions. Amber and Alana are nothing short of brilliant! They handle such a difficult problem with warmth, knowledge and a healthy dose of well placed humour. We've attended for some time and it is always amazing to see how they facilitate new folks into a significantly improved state of health and mind. They cannot be commended enough!

We discovered the in-person meetings in Calgary with PEP held at the Aventa Centre a couple months ago.. And it is true... we did not know what to expect but hoped it might help us deal with this nightmare we are living. When we attended our first meeting, it was an overwhelming experience for us as we, like many with loved ones struggling with addiction, we were hoping to find answers on how to get through this chaos. Well, the answers don't always come easy. And sometimes it's more for listening and considering different options... What we did find was that it's a safe place to be with people who really "get" what you are going through and can relate on a level that makes you feel less alone. Some meetings make you feel hopeful... While some meetings... have you confront a truth you've been in denial about... some meetings you laugh and some you cry...but the feeling of community is real. Our meeting includes two facilators and also someone that has real life experience with addiction and is willing to give their perspective of some of the realities that face those that lived with addiction and are now in recovery... that has also been uniquely helpful. In this age of virtual meetings, it's nice to have some human contact. #family recovery #calgary #addictionsupport

PEP offers something no other place else does with this format that I have personally found. A gathering of people who suffer the pain experienced by loved ones with addiction. It is a place you can speak freely without judgement. Nobody tells you what your doing is right or wrong as each persons journey toward their own recovery is different and we must learn what works for us and what we are comfortable with. The people there just offer support and possibly make suggestions based on things that have worked for them. Quite honestly the facilitators are wonderful and informative. Though we would rather not be in this circumstance to gather and chat is so helpful. This is a group of very informative and supportive people. If you need a support system you should try PEP out :)

For more than a decade, PEP (Parents Empowering Parents) has been a lifeline for my family and me. When someone you love is struggling with addiction, the shame, fear, and heartbreak can feel overwhelming. Addiction doesn’t just affect the person using substances—it impacts the entire family. PEP provides a safe, welcoming space where you can connect with others who truly understand what you’re going through. The support, compassion, and shared experiences have helped us realize we are not alone. Through PEP, we’ve learned healthy boundaries and how to continue loving and supporting our son while also taking care of ourselves. Those lessons have been life-changing. There are times when the weight of it all feels unbearable, and knowing there is a room full of people who understand, listen without judgment, and offer hope is truly invaluable. I am incredibly grateful for this organization and the difference it continues to make in the lives of families like ours. Thank you, PEP, for giving us strength, understanding, and hope when we needed it most.

I am so grateful to have found PEP over 4 years ago. Their help and support has made a huge difference in how I live my life, even though my loved ones struggling with addiction still suffer. Living outside of the cities with in person meetings means I attend the virtual Wednesday night Zoom meetings. I highly recommend PEP for support in walking along a loved one with addiction challenges. I am stronger, healthier and even finding joy thanks to PEP!

When we began our journey as parents of a child living with addiction, we were terrified and just wanted to find a way to save her. We were so grateful that we found PEP. We quickly realized that we needed to heal ourselves first, in order to be able to navigate the chaos that is addiction. We looked forward to our weekly meetings where we got the education and support from others who were just as scared as we were. PEP saved us and will forever be family.
